The team of Katharco Studio composes and produces individual music for films, radio plays and theater as well as sound compositions for interdisciplinary, architectural space design.
As musicians, they have been working as soloists for more than 30 years in various ensembles of early music, classic, jazz and contemporary music. The "old" classical and traditional music form a central mainstay of the composers, but aesthetic interlinking between traditional and new digital media seem to merge the boundaries of different types of music.
They have composed (and realized) the complete music and sound impressions for many multimedia productions "Illumina" in public parks on behalf of Euroga 2000plus, for the staging of the gasometer at the event "Extraschicht", for the appointment of the coal-mine “Zeche Zollverein” as “World Heritage” by the UNESCO and for industrial premises “IndustrieRäume” on behalf of the foundation for the care industrial monuments and culture of history “Stiftung Industriedenkmalpflege und Geschichtskultur”. They also composed the film music for "piano piano" and "AquaLumina" the theater music for “Boul (Cirque du Soleil)”, “Der kleine Narr” (Kai Jordens), Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy", “Compania Megusta” (premiered at concert hall, Vienna) and the musical journey "the Return of Marco Polo" (premiered at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and performed again in the concert hall, Hamburg).
The light and sound production in the quarry “Prangenhaus” was honoured with the “Event Award 2004”. In this production Studio Katharco created the world's first multimedia multi-channel playout over a lake with a diameter of more than 800m.
Many international, inter-media projects characterize the multifaceted repertoire of the two exceptional composers who, since the founding of the company in 1991, are an inspirational team with a distinctive artistic style.
